Mount Elgon National Park
Mount Elgon National Park, located on the border between Uganda and Kenya, is one of the oldest and largest volcanic mountains in East Africa. The park covers an area of 1,279 square kilometers and is famous for its unique landscapes, including lush forests, alpine meadows, and spectacular calderas, making it a haven for nature lovers, hikers, and wildlife enthusiasts. The park is home to over 300 species of birds, 50 species of mammals, and a variety of plant species, including the endangered giant ground pangolin. Mount Elgon itself, with an altitude of 4,321 meters, is known for its peaceful trails, extensive caves, and scenic waterfalls.
